How The Upcoming Impeachment Trial Could Hurt The Dems:

Picture of a Gavel

Republicans recently voted against the second impeachment of former President Donald Trump, calling it unconstitutional since he is no longer in office and that it serves no purpose other than to further divide the country. Democrats, however, have argued that Donald Trump needs to be held responsible for the Capitol riot last month on one count of ‘incitement of insurrection.’

Outgoing chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Sen. Lindsey Graham warned Democrats that if they called even one witness during the impeachment trial, they would be opening a can of worms. He pointed out how no witnesses were called in the House impeachment and that the trial expects to call no witnesses in the Senate.

“If you open that can of worms, we’ll want the FBI to come in and tell us about how people pre-planned this attack and what happened with the security footprint at the Capitol. You open up Pandora’s Box if you call one witness,” Sen. Graham said.

Graham also revealed that many Senate Democrats have hoped President Biden will call Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer to call off the impeachment trial because of potential political ramifications. He said he had “never felt better about the Republican Senate conference being united behind the idea that what the House did was wrong in terms of process.”

He called out Sen. Dick Durbin for his decision to call on the Senate to hold a confirmation hearing for Judge Merrick Garland just a day before Trump’s impeachment begins. He wrote that Justice Barrett had a 4-day hearing during her Supreme Court confirmation. Why wouldn’t Garland’s extensive record deserves any less?

“Democrats do not get to score political points in an unprecedented act of political theater on one hand while also trying to claim the mantle of good government on the other,” he said.

Other Republicans have also blasted liberals for pushing ahead with Trump’s impeachment trial, calling it a double standard and “dead on arrival.” Sen. Rand Paul cited times where Democrats used hateful speech in urging their voters to “confront Republicans” during the Trump Administration. No mainstream media platforms covered any of those stories.

One of Trump’s attorney’s David Schoen even called the impeachment process unconstitutional and said it was a very dangerous road to take with respect to the First Amendment. Attacking a passionate and political speech goes against everything the country believes in.

Sens. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz also called the impeachment a “partisan game” that was designed to punish Republicans after the congressional races and presidential election. Since a majority of Republicans strongly opposed the impeachment vote, all signs point to Trump being acquitted during the trial.

Democrats prove at every turn that they don’t care about unity, they just want policies to enrich their friends, grant power to themselves, and send a message that the country belongs to them first. You must keep up on what is happening.
